Guidelines（练习准则）
State the general idea first
Put the general idea (topic sentence / thesis statement) at or near the beginning. Tell readers your central viewpoint before giving examples.
中文：先提出概括观点。总观点（主题句 / 中心论点）放在段首或靠近段首，先亮明观点，再举例子。
Select proper examples
Choose examples following four principles: relevance, typicality, sufficiency and variety. Make sure examples support your idea.
中文：选择恰当例子。遵循相关性、典型性、充分性、多样性四条原则，保证例子能够支撑观点。
Make clear connection between examples and the general idea
Do not just list examples. Add some analysis or comments, explain how examples prove the idea.
中文：建立例子与总观点之间的联系。不要单纯罗列例子，要有分析评述，说明例子如何证明观点。
Use transitional expressions
Use signal words for illustration: for example, for instance, a case in point, such as, take…for example, to illustrate. Make writing smooth.
中文：使用过渡词语。使用例证信号词，使行文流畅自然。
Choose brief examples or an extended example reasonably
You may list several brief examples, or use one extended example with details. Do not mix too many extended examples in one short paragraph.
中文：合理选用简例或详例。可以用若干简例，也可以用一个细节丰富的详例；短段落不要堆砌多个详例。
Do not introduce new ideas in conclusion
In conclusion part, restate the main idea. Avoid new examples or new arguments.
中文：结尾不要引入新观点。结尾重申主旨，不要出现新例子、新论点。
