在例证法（illustration）当中，例子分为两大类：brief examples（简例） 和 extended example（详例）。
1. Brief examples 简例
定义
Brief examples are short, concise examples. Writers list several brief examples without giving many details.
中文：简例简短精炼，作者列举若干事例，不展开过多细节。
特点
数量：通常两个或多个事例并列；
不叙述完整经过，只点出事例；
适合快速多角度证明观点。
课文《We learn as we grow》使用的就是 brief examples
General idea：Learning is a lifelong process.
Little kids learn basic skills from their parents.
Students acquire knowledge at school.
Adults learn from real‑life experiences after graduation.
只是简单罗列不同人生阶段的学习，没有讲完整故事，属于简例。
例句：
We can learn useful things from many sources, such as our family, friends and workmates.
我们可以从很多地方学到有用的东西，比如家人、朋友和同事。
2. Extended example 详例

An extended example is one single example with full details. Writers tell the whole story of one case to illustrate the general idea.
中文：详例只用一个例子，提供完整细节，把事例完整叙述出来证明观点。
