    Epics: Homer
    The two great Greek epics are Iliad and Odyssey. They are attributed to Homer, a blind poet. The epics tell stories of the Trojan War and the adventures of Odysseus. They are the foundation of Greek literature.

    Sappho is the most famous female lyric poet of ancient Greece. Her poems mainly express personal feelings and love.

    Drama reached its high point in the Classical Period. It originated from religious ceremonies in honor of Dionysus, god of wine.

    Three great tragedians
    ① Aeschylus: father of Greek tragedy. Representative work: Prometheus Bound.
    ② Sophocles: Representative work: Oedipus Rex.
    ③ Euripides: He focused on human nature and women’s fate. Representative work: Medea.

② 索福克勒斯:代表作《俄狄浦斯王》

    Aristophanes is the great representative of Greek Old Comedy. His works are satirical about society and politics.
